Accidents

Aug. 7, 7:30 a.m., Gary W. Pittman, Woodsfield, was at the intersection of South Sycamore Street and West Marietta Street in his 1999 Buick 4S which proceeded backwards striking a 2010 Ford 4S, driven by Janet L. Davis, Woodsfield,  causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Aug. 9, 5:20 p.m., Roger Elliott, Woodsfield, was backing his 2007 Sat. from a store front and struck a 2012 Kia Optima, driven by Cari A. Anderson, at the gas pumps causing light damage to both vehicles.

COUNTY SHERIFF

Accidents

July 21, 6:00 a.m., Derek Andrew Tippie, Lewisville, was traveling East on TR 41 in a 2008 Chevy Silverado, when it ran off the road to the right, then rolled over after running off of the road before coming to rest on all four wheels. There was disabling damage to the 2008 Chevy Silverado and it had to be towed.

Aug. 8, 4:40 p.m., Michael L. Bassett, Marietta, was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger and Kelly Jo Morgan, New Martinsville, was driving a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner, both traveling on TR 427. Bassett’s 1996 Ford Ranger rearended Morgan’s 2004 Toyota 4-Runner. There were no injuries and minor damage to Bassett’s Ford Ranger. Bassett was cited with assured clear distance.

Aug. 8, 5:50 p.m., David Allen Spicer, Parkersburg, W.Va., was parked at the Hannibal Industry parking lot in his 2003 Chevy Malibu. Another vehicle backed into Spicer’s 2003 Chevy Malibu and left the scene in a hit/skip offense. There was light damage to Spicer’s 2003 Chevy Malibu.

Aug. 9, 8:10 p.m., a juvenile, Woodsfield, was traveling West on Cranesnest Rd. in a 2001 Ford Ranger, and lost control, over corrected in the gravel, drove through a ditch, then up an embankment, rolled over and came to rest on its top.  The 2001 Ford Ranger had to be towed.
